Fall Kick Off, Fitting Day, and Marching Band Camp

FALL KICK OFF is the official start of the Fall season for all Instrumental Music programs and consists of a Fitting Day for all ensembles as well as Marching Band Camp for Marching Band & Color Guard. Below are further details for each event as well as information on what to complete prior to kick off.


The MVHS Music program kicks off the Fall season with check-in and uniform fitting on Friday, August 6th!  Any student who plans to participate in music during the Fall should plan to attend.  Activities on August 6th will include:

  • Confirming/updating student and parent contact information
  • Placing orders for student spirit wear, equipment, and costumes, or order now through our online store.
  • Turning in all required forms (completed physical and authorization forms must be turned in to participate in Marching Band Camp!)
  • Making program donations or handling any other transactions

If you are NOT able to participate on August 6th, please contact the Uniform Manager ASAP at uniforms@mvhsmusic.com. Make-up fitting times & check-in will be limited and by appointment only!

Parents are welcome to attend Fitting Day with their student to ask questions, meet Booster members, or make payments. Parent volunteers are always needed as well! No experience required. Full day preferred, but any amount of time is helpful! Please email the Uniform Manager at uniforms@mvhsmusic.com to sign up. 


Marching Band & Color Guard participate in a one-week intensive rehearsal schedule (known as “Band Camp”) just prior to the beginning of school. This gives performers the opportunity to build relationships with other students and their coaches, as well as learning the Field Show for the year.

All Marching Band students participate in marching practice on the football field from 8:00 am to Noon every day (Monday through Friday). Afternoon and evenings are reserved for sectional rehearsals. Sectional schedules vary and will be communicated by student section leaders. These are busy, fun, exhausting days for the students. Please try to keep their schedules flexible as these rehearsal times may change on the fly. Color Guard practice schedules will be communicated by the coaches and Color Guard Manager.

Students should wear light colored, comfortable clothes for movement, sunscreen and a hat. They should bring plenty of WATER, preferably in a large insulated water jug. Prior to Marching Band Camp, students must complete and turn in all forms and have athletic clearance on file from a doctor. This is a school requirement.
