Mission Viejo High School Instrumental Music

MusicNotes Week of 1/4

Week of January 4
Woodwinds and Brass Can Play!
(Waiver required)

Good news!!! We have an update concerning playing wind instruments at school. If your student is a string or percussion player, they have already been allowed to play at school. Woodwind and brass players, your time is coming soon! When we return to school in January, we will start rehearsals in person during class. The district’s statement, and a waiver are attached. THE WAIVER IS REQUIRED BEFORE YOUR STUDENT IS ALLOWED TO PLAY. Please return it to Mr. Westphal.

Last Chance for a 2020 Tax Deduction
As 2020 draws to a close (woohoo!) remember that today is the last day you can make a donation to MVHS Music and use it as a deduction on your 2020 taxes. Even if you don’t itemize on your tax return, the CARES Act passed last spring established a new above-the-line deduction for charitable giving. You can write off up to $300 in cash donations on your 2020 income tax return even if you don’t itemize!
If you have not made your $250 program donation yet, today is the perfect day to do it! Just go to https://mvhsmusic.com/mvhsimba/donate/ to make your donation NOW!
Thanks for your support this year. Looking forward to a great (at least, better) 2021!

Program Donations
Program Donations needed! If you have not paid your $250 program donation, please make it before the end of the semester. Don’t forget we are a nonprofit, so your donation may be a great year-end tax deduction! This is the primary funding to pay our coaches and we need your help! https://mvhsmusic.com/mvhsimba/donate/
Check out our current fundraising opportunities:
ShopWithScrip/RaiseRight: Buy gift cards (physical cards and e-cards) from your favorite brands and a portion goes back to MVHSIMBA. Download the RaiseRight app on your phone to easily browse over 750 restaurants, stores, online shopping sites, and more that participate.
Link a bank account or credit card in the app and purchase e-cards almost instantly for a small fee, or place the order and pay the coordinator directly with cash or check. See the flyer for instructions on how to Join a Program on the RaiseRight app with the MVHSIMBA enrollment code.
Textile Drives: We collect discarded textiles (clothing, drapery, bedding, shoes, purses, etc) for which we receive a set amount per pound. This fundraiser may occur several times a year and it
is a great way to not only support the Instrumental Music program, but a great way to clean out your closet! Our first pickup for the year is scheduled for November, but we will collect from you anytime! Text the Booster President at 949-981-5262 to arrange a pickup.
