Legends training THIS SATURDAY August 14th!
Looking for a way to pay your Program Donation? Look no further! Legends is a hospitality company that invites non-profits to help them at concerts selling adult beverages. The concerts are at the 5-points Amphitheater in Irvine. In return for the help, Legends donates a portion of sales and the electronic tips received to the Music Program. It is a win-win for everyone! Parents who volunteer at the concerts can use these donations to cover their student’s program donation that we ask of all the students or to cover any trip fee’s. Donations earned by the parent go straight into the program, there are no cash payouts. Our booths are located in prime locations for sales AND for viewing the concerts! Parent Meeting Tuesday August 17th!
ALL Parents (from ALL programs) please plan to attend a parent meeting in the Band Room next Tuesday 8/17 at 7 pm. We will be reviewing the calendar and plans for the new school year. Come find out what your student will be doing this year and how you can be involved! We will also be taking orders for spirit/band wear and accepting Program Donations.
Fundraiser
The first fundraiser of the year is about to begin! National Discount Card Sales! Similar to Entertainment Books of the past, but digital and NATIONWIDE! Save an avg. $250 annually! Have your student down load the app from the App store prior to Aug 23rd: Scoreboard FR. Provide them with a minimum of 20 friends, family and acquaintances cell numbers to discuss the National Discount Card with! EZ-Peasy! Contact-less fundraising, adds up quickly! Kick-off is Aug 23rd and we want the kids prepared with the app already on their phones!

  • If your student missed the Fitting Day please email uniforms@mvhsmusic.com ASAP to arrange a time for a fitting
  • You may still order student spirit wear, equipment, costumes and other apparel on our On Line Store
  • Make sure your student has turned in their Authorization to Treat a Minor form and uploaded their physical info to athleticclearance.com
  • Program donations are now being accepted! We need everyone’s participation in order to retain our outstanding coaching staff and provide our students with everything necessary for the season. Recurring Payments can also be made if you prefer!
  • Interested in volunteering? We are gathering a group of parents to distribute the workload and increase the fun! There are tasks that can be done from home, volunteering with the band at football games or comps, and everything in between! Please email marchingband@mvhsmusic.com to join the MB parent committee or to find out more about it. WE NEED YOU!
MVHS Field Show (aka Home Comp)
HOME COMP planning meetings have begun! This year Home Comp will be on Saturday, October 2nd and is the music program’s largest revenue-generating event of the year that benefits the entire music program. We need parents from ALL programs to help plan and volunteer day-of for this event.
If you’d like to learn more or are interested in helping out, we encourage you to join us in the Band Room on Tuesdays at 7pm (this week’s meeting will take place as part of the parent meeting).
Wondering what Home Comp is??? It’s the first Marching Band field show of the year where bands from near and far come to perform and compete. More details can be found here.

Dear Parents,
I would like to take a moment to invite you to become a member of the MVHS Music Booster Board. The Music Booster Board is made up of 30 dedicated parent volunteers who are the backbone of the MVHS Instrumental Music Program (MVHSIMBA). It consists of the Executive Board (voted into office), Standing Committee Chairs (Managers of Ensembles and areas of importance) and Committee Members (support for Committee Chairs).
Our Executive Board has 9 positions: President, VP, VP Operations, VP Ways & Means, Treasurer, Secretary and 3 Members at Large. Currently we still are in need of : a Vice President, VP of Operations, a Secretary and 1-2 Members at Large.
We are also in need of the following Managers/Assistant Managers: Marching Band Manager, Marching Band Assistant Manager, Concert Ensembles Assistant Manager, Drumline Manager, Photographer, Videographer, Financial Secretary, Uniform Assistant Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Parliamentarian.
You will not regret joining the Music Booster Board! Good times, New Friends, get to be “behind the scenes”, faster knowledge of event happenings and schedules, free field level view of home football games when asked, voting rights, brainstorming… just to name a few of the benefits!
We need YOU so we can pass on the tribal knowledge and traditions of the MVHSIMBA!

MEET OUR DIRECTOR
DOUG MEEUWSEN
Doug Meeuwsen has been teaching high school band since 1992. He has been at Mission Viejo High School since 1999.
He is also a working musician in many styles of music including orchestral, jazz, commercial and Latin.
His main instrument is the trumpet. For ten years, he taught 50 trumpet lessons a week, which he says is a great way to learn how to teach music.
Since 1980, Doug has been known as an accomplished trumpet mouthpiece maker. In his free time he does other equally musical things.

Textile Drives: We collect textiles (clothing, drapery, bedding, shoes, purses, etc) year round, for which we receive a set amount per pound. It is a great way to support the Instrumental Music program, AND a great way to clean out your closet and your neighbors closet! Text the Booster President at 949-981-5262 to arrange a pickup.

Ralphs Community Giving Program: A percentage of your grocery purchases are donated to the Instrumental Music program at NO EXTRA COST TO YOU! It is as simple as registering your Reward Card and selecting Mission Viejo High School Instrumental Music Boosters Association as the program to which you wish to donate. NOTE: The Ralph’s Giving Program requires you to renew your selection every September 1st.
