Gift Cards and Other Scrip

Attention Parents:

We all buy groceries and gas, go out to eat or go to the movies, and shop, so why don’t you take advantage of our SCRIP program and buy SCRIP where a percentage of what you buy goes into your child’s band account which helps pay for your band fees. The merchants that we carry on hand every week are: Albertsons, Arco, Shell, Stater Brothers and Target.  If you want something that we don't carry, check out the webpage (www.shopwithscrip.com) for their merchant list.

SCRIP is a way for you to raise funds to help pay for your student's Fair Share Contribution while purchasing the things you normally buy. Sounds almost too good to be true! The SCRIP program that is set up allows you to purchase SCRIP (gift cards) for restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, gas stations, and common services at face value and also receive a percentage of the funds back from the merchants you select. The rebate percentage (less a percentage of the shipping fee - usually less than $1) is applied directly to your student's Fair Share Contribution. The funds are applied for ALL students in ALL programs under the MVHS Music Programs: marching band, color guard, orchestra, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz band, drum line, and winter guard.

Now that I Know What SCRIP is and When to Purchase, Order,
and Pick-Up, How Do I Actually Purchase SCRIP?

We encourage everyone that wants to purchase SCRIP to use online ordering through Great Lakes scrip. If you do not have a family sign-in already, please fill out the attached form and drop it off at a Monday Night Practice, or email Janyne. Once your information is received, they can get you set up with a username and temporary access password. With the log-in information, you can browse the ShopWithScrip website and place your order. Instruction for using the website are located on the sign-up sheet.

Payment for SCRIP and special orders is due upon pick-up; however, you may pay when you order if you prefer. Payment must be provided in checks only (made payable to MVHSIMBA). Cash cannot be accepted. The cutoff time for online orders is 9:00 pm on Monday nights. Orders entered by this time will be available for pick-up the following Monday at Monday Night Practice. Orders received after the cutoff not be availble until the the second Monday following the order date.

How Much Can I Really Earn?

It depends on how often you purchase and the payback percentages for each of the merchants. One average family last year spent $10,180 on their standard purchases (grocery stores, gasoline, restaurants, and retail stores) and received $480 back in savings to offset their Fair Share Contributions for the year! During the 2009-10 school year, combined scrip purchases for MVHS Music families totaled $279,000; the total rebate returned to those families was $12,794.

Buying SCRIP is not a one-time deal. It will only add up if you are a regular participant.

Ready to Get Started?

Click here to view the latest Scrip master retailer list. Note: this link will open your web browser to access the most current listing from the Great Lakes Scrip website. SCRIP offerings and payback percentages change often. Download the sign up form here. If you prefer to not use the online ordering system, make sure to print your order form and bring it to the drop off / pick up location.

Interested in buying scrip? Ben and Janyne Ekwall will be at Monday Night Practice from 7:30-8:30pm through field season. Have a question? Please email Janyne.
